PRIMA ELECTRONICS was established in 1978 as a “satellite” company of PRIMA PROGETTI, which was founded the previous year.
PRIMA PROGETTI positioned itself in the marketplace as a manufacturing and production company of advanced industrial automation, with high mechanics integration, electronics and software. The electronics production (taking into account that the application relevance had to be “industrial-grade”) was devolved to PRIMA ELECTRONICS.
During the subsequent years the market thrust forced PRIMA PROGETTI to become PRIMA INDUSTRIE, devoting itself to laser machines. Today PRIMA group is a worldwide leader in this area.
At the same time PRIMA ELECTRONICS was acquiring more and more design capacity, autonomy and independence in choosing customers not part of the parent company. PRIMA ELECTRONICS nevertheless kept to the original working concept: working in partnership with customers thus sharing with them business benefits and risks.
Today the PRIMA INDUSTRIE Group represents less than 25% of the entire yearly revenues for PRIMA ELECTRONICS. The remaining sales are the result of our qualified customers’ prerogative, some being long-term customers and others being recently acquired, all of them involved in an established, cooperative and reliable relationship, covering more and more different industries.
As a result of our development work in many different technical disciplines and after 30 years of work at the customers’ side, PRIMA ELECTRONICS has gained the capability to offer intelligent and innovative solutions, taking full advantage of the experience gathered often from very different industrial sectors.
Throughout the years the company has made steady and progressive growth: internally due to the support of our long-term customers and also the acquisition of new markets; externally and more recently due to new acquisitions. In 2007 the acquisition and integration of MLTA was completed, a well-known company specializing in power electronics (railways, defence, laser, electronics, etc…).
On July 2007 PRIMA ELECTRONICS acquired OSAI S.p.A., the Italian CNC leader for applications in wood, glass and marble, with more than 100 employees, 2007 revenue of about 20 M€ and located in Barone Canavese (TO).
With this recent acquisition, PRIMA ELECTRONICS is today the first CNC manufacturer, widely exceeding the threshold of 45 M€ revenue and about 250 employees.
